IJODEE DIGITAL STUDIO

Ijodee Digital Studio (IDS) is a section under IJODEE DANCE CENTRE that deals with anything that has to do with Audio/Visuals.
It was established in the year 2009 by Ijodee dance centre and is being managed by a resourceful and inventive (Audio/Visual) Editor, LIADI ADELEKE TAOFEEQ.
The company sticks to a standard and ideal ideas, and make sure those that come in contact with it are being satisfied through its excellent creativity in

Audio/Visuals.
The section specialized in EDITING (AUDIO/VISUAL), EVENT COVERAGE AND PRODUCTION, SOUND PRODUCTION, GRAPHIC DESIGN, SOUND ENGINEER, E-CARD, PLASTIC I.D CARDS, E-BOOK AND E-RESUME ,CD MASTERING, ANIMATION, DVD AUTHOURING, SOUND EXTRACTION FROM VIDEO AND ALL OTHER FORMS CONVERSION FROM VHS TO VCD OR DVD OR FRONM VCD TO DVD E.T.C

AUDIO EDITING

Comprehensive editing allows quick assembly and compiling of vocals, repair of mistakes, looping record e.t.c with excellent DSP time, pitch, EQ, and dynamics control and complete automation of everything.
Some things still have to be done by hand. 200 simultaneous tracks of audio can be recorded, and mixed in a fully automated environment. The first thing I learnt was listen. Not only to the music, obviously, but to the intention, the passion, the meaning of the lyric. Find out what the artist wants to capture. If they don’t know consciously, probe deeper. Go for the jugular. I detest weak music, music with no passion.

The Trick

So the trick is how to achieve the conditions necessary for a great recording experience with the necessary technical control to get the required sound without letting the equipment and the recording technique get in the way of the performers and their performance.
Each individual and group has a different dynamic in this respect and so what we try to do is

a) Find out what works for you and
b) Check that it is still working
c) Make adjustments to the sound your hearing, the room, the lights whatever it takes to get the take.
It’s Simple
Sound simple? Well it is and I always try to make recording a fun, exciting and slightly challenging experience, so we all have the opportunity to give our best. That way the end result will also be exciting and inspiring.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

We can put together a camera crew, shooting in PAL HD or mini DVCAM  at either 4:3 or 16:9 for covering concerts, conferences and other similar events. All our crews are experienced and have directed films and documentaries of their own. It’s usual to have at least a week to plan a shoot, visit the site if possible and develop a strategy.

AUDIO/VISUAL
Great sound can make an ordinary video or film into a magical experience. Poor sound will destroy even the best shots. We always try to capture the audio in as flexible format as possible. Often this means a 24 or 48 track audio recording - using the HD24 HD recorder as well as the camera audio for ambience and sync. This approach gives total freedom of movement for the operators and the optional use of the camera ambience for audience response etc.
The audio mix then becomes the backbone of the vision mix, from which the shots are synced and edited. For 5.1 mixes the camera audio become a useful source for 'size information'.
There are other ways of working but we find this the best and quickest way of doing videos for music and performance.

 EDITING
We edit in Premiere Pro and Canopus Edius Pro and can handle 12 video streams with ease. Output to NTSC or PAL region Zero or as required. We really enjoy creative editing and the artistic use of effects.

ANIMATION

Some of our recent projects have featured 2D animations and animated menus to great effect. We also work on 3D animation and MAYA that we use from time to time, for that special touch.

 AUTHORING
We use DVDit PRO for authoring animated menus, custom layered buttons, slide shows  the content is up to you.

CD MASTERING

CD mastering has changed dramatically in the last few years. In the early days, we all were told that the RMS level of a CD should be -12DB, below the 0DB which is the absolute ceiling for digital media. Then as compression and peak limiting became more available, levels started to rise and rise, until now, using spectral limiting and really pushing the parameters, its common to achieve -4db ‘peak’ RMS – which sounds like a contradiction but isn’t, and a true RMS of around -6 to -8. WHY? Because it’s not good if your CD sounds quiet on the radio or in the club compared to everyone else’s. There are exceptions of course, Classical and some experimental, and ambient, and accapella, and folk/acoustic and quite a lot of exceptions.

 WHAT WE DO IN MASTERING
First we listen carefully to the artist and producer to find out what they want to achieve. Then we top and tail the tracks, put them in order, work out the fades, and gaps. Then we listen to all the music with that in mind and develop a strategy for achieving their desired effect. Then we start to process, whatever is necessary to achieve the desired effect. Sometimes we finish the session, send the producer away for a day or two with a 'first master. Then have a second go a few days later after all the interested parties have had a chance to contribute their points of view ( or hearing) before we do the finishing touches.

 DVD AUTHORING

At Ijodee digital Studio, we realize that this final step in the production of a DVD master fit for replication is often a very expensive process. We enjoy working closely with our regular clients, incorporating their existing artwork in Photoshop format as a basis for the menu pages. This creates a visually appealing design which ties in with the printed covers and posters. The production team provides all the credits and titles in a Word document, checked for correct spelling. These are then imported into the film and the Authoring program providing a quick, reliable and cost effective production method. But if you want to go a bit further, we are happy to create animated menus, sound menus or slide shows etc.
We regularly produce DVD masters in PAL or NTSC, and can accommodate audio as 48k .wav/ aiff/AC3 or Dolby 5.1 files.
